Promptly Health and Datavant Announce Partnership to Advance European Health Data Accessibility

LONDON and LISBON, April 10th, 2024 - Promptly Health, an emerging provider of European real-world data access, and Datavant, the leading health data logistics company, announced today a collaboration to address the challenges of a fragmented health data landscape in Europe. This partnership will bring Datavant’s world-leading data connectivity technology to Life Sciences and Hospital Partners of Promptly’s Evidence Network.

Healthcare providers and Life Sciences companies recognize the immense value of collaboration and data accessibility in driving innovation and medical breakthroughs. However, the highly sensitive nature of the healthcare ecosystem presents challenges to effective data sharing. Healthcare organizations seek simpler methods of collaboration, but their data is often scattered across various healthcare contexts and databases.

The European Health Data Space, provisionally approved on 15th March 2024, aims to address these issues (source). This new EU regulation aims to empower individuals to control their health data, support the use of health data to improve healthcare delivery, research, innovation, and policy making, and enables the EU to fully utilize the potential of safe and secure health data exchange. It is projected to generate around 50 billion euros of value to the healthcare ecosystem over the next decade (source).

Promptly Health and Datavant will combine their strengths in data federation, harmonization and tokenization to enhance patient data utilization in Europe and prepare the ecosystem for the future European Health Data Space.
This joint effort will utilize Datavant's technology, which enables the matching of tokenized patient records, and Promptly’s secure data access capabilities to transform routine medical data trapped across silos into research-grade data assets. The two companies will provide health data stakeholders such as hospitals, biopharmaceutical companies, health insurers, regulators, and policymakers, visibility into patient populations to expand value-based care initiatives, improve risk predictability and clinical decision-making, and close care gaps. It will also generate opportunities for closer connectivity to clinical trials and life sciences projects.

The organisations will start their collaboration in Iberia, with the ambition to later expand to the United Kingdom and Sweden, where Promptly continues to scale its Hospital Partner Network.

Pedro Ramos, CEO at Promptly, commented on the partnership, "The combination of Promptly's real-world data capabilities with Datavant's leading connectivity technology marks a significant shift in the way data can be integrated into health research and innovations. Our Hospital Network and Customers can now more easily and securely analyze their collective datasets to fill gaps in patient care, reduce costs, and speed time to insight, while in full compliance with data privacy requirements in Europe.

"Devin Gilliam, General Manager, Europe & UK at Datavant, added, “Datavant and our partners successfully built the largest real-world data ecosystem in the U.S., which has enabled real-world evidence generation and advanced patient insights. We’re excited to partner with Promptly to bring our data connectivity capabilities and experience to Europe and accelerate the exchange of real-world data for stakeholders across the healthcare industry.”
