Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your role as a Team Success Specialist?

I’m Margarida Barbosa, and as a Team Success Specialist at Promptly, my mission is to create an environment where every team member feels valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work. I focus on people development, culture, and employee experience, ensuring that our values aren’t just words on paper but something we actively live by.

What inspired you to pursue a career in people & culture?

I’ve always been passionate about helping people grow and creating work environments where they can thrive, innovate, and feel truly fulfilled. I believe that a strong company culture isn’t just about productivity—it’s about building meaningful relationships and fostering a shared sense of purpose. That’s exactly what drew me to Promptly!

How would you describe the company culture at Promptly in just three words?

Empathetic, Empowering, Purpose-Driven.

What makes Promptly’s culture different from other places you’ve worked?

At Promptly, every voice matters. There are no rigid hierarchies—if you have an idea, you’re encouraged to take ownership and run with it. There’s a real sense of purpose here because we know our work directly impacts patient care. We don’t just talk about making a difference—we actually do it.

How does the company live and breathe its values in daily work?

It starts with empathy—whether we’re working with colleagues, clients, or patients, we always strive to understand their needs first. Ownership is another key value—our team members don’t wait for instructions; they step up and take responsibility. And when challenges arise, teamwork and collaboration ensure we tackle them together.

Can you share a favorite team tradition, event, or initiative that reflects our culture?

One of the standout traditions in our team is our biannual all-hands gathering in Portugal. Twice a year, the entire team—including members from outside Europe—come together to connect, collaborate, and reflect on the company’s pain points. These gatherings are a fantastic opportunity to strengthen relationships, discuss areas for improvement, and foster a real sense of teamwork. We also make the most of these moments with on-site engagement activities, where colleagues who don’t typically collaborate get to work together in a fun and dynamic way.

Another personal favorite is our music league. Every Monday, I look forward to checking out the playlist created from everyone’s submissions—it’s always fun to see the range of tastes, share some friendly banter, and discover new music along the way!

How does Promptly support career growth and development for employees?

We believe in learning by doing. Employees are encouraged to take on new challenges, experiment, and push their limits. There’s also a strong emphasis on mentorship and continuous feedback, so everyone gets the support they need to grow.

What kind of learning opportunities does Promptly provide?

We offer access to courses, conferences, and internal training sessions, but most importantly, we foster a culture of knowledge-sharing. Everyone at Promptly is both a student and a teacher—we encourage people to learn from each other.

Can you share a success story of someone who has grown within the company?

One of our biggest success stories comes from our Summer Internship Program, which has been incredibly successful year after year. We’re fortunate to receive thousands of applications from talented individuals eager to learn and grow with us. In fact, five of our current team members started as summer interns! They seized the opportunity to showcase their skills, drive, and potential—and we simply couldn’t let such talent go. It’s always inspiring to see interns evolve into full-time team members, contributing meaningfully to our success.

What does Promptly do to promote work-life balance and flexibility?

We understand that everyone works differently, so we offer flexible schedules and a remote-first approach. Whether you need to adjust your hours for personal commitments or take time for self-care, we trust our team to manage their own time responsibly.

How does the company support Work-Life Balance & Productivity?

Working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment can be demanding, and we truly value the importance of work-life balance. One of the key initiatives we've implemented to support this is our half-day free from meetings policy. This gives our team members uninterrupted time to focus on deep work, recharge, or catch up on tasks without the distraction of back-to-back meetings. It’s an initiative designed to foster better productivity, mental well-being, and creativity.

What’s your favorite perk or benefit of working at Promptly?

For me, it’s the purpose-driven work. Knowing that my efforts contribute to improving patient outcomes makes every day meaningful. But beyond that, I love the corporate retreats and team events, which really strengthen our bonds as a team, I love that we have 3 more additional vacation days on the second year of contract and, obviously, the remote work!
