ELSAN and Promptly are joining forces to further promote French medical research in Europe by making real-world health data more accessible and interoperable, within a trusted framework authorized by the regulatory bodies, and in line with EHDS.
ELSAN Joins TrustED to launch Viral Epidemiology observatory Using Federation Technology
The partnership will start with the launch of a European observatory for infectious diseases based on an EU federated learning,TrustED. Deployed as part of Horizon Europe (European Union’s framework program for research and innovation), TrustED will focus on developing AI models to better predict the next wave of triple pandemics (Covid-19, Virus Influenza, and Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)).
ELSAN and Promptly: Committed to Leveraging the latest technology
With more than 200 hospitals and clinics treating over five million patients annually, ELSAN has one of the most extensive clinical footprints in France. Through this partnership with Promptly Health, ELSAN will further develop its Health Data Hub - hosted by French operator SFR Business, supported by France 2030 funding, and operational since late 2024 - by deploying a secure, research-grade data platform that aligns with international standards such as the OMOP Common Data Model and the goals of the European Health Data Space.

Promptly Health currently operates a federated health data network spanning ~25 partners totaling 250 hospitals and covering 35 million lives across Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. This approach enables research and AI development to be conducted where the data resides, ensuring strict regulatory compliance and uncompromised patient confidentiality. ELSAN’s participation in this network adds critical French representation to a growing ecosystem designed to scale ethically, securely, and interoperable across borders.
